Hi everyone! It’s over a month that the new version of Urlist is online and we are proud to announce that the development of this beta version is keep on growing. In fact starting from today you’ll find Urlist’s notifications in your email inbox. It’s our way to keep you informed about what’s going on in your lists.

Feel free to set the notifications in the settings panel and choose when you prefer to get your email: when someone helps your knowledge by adding a link or when comments on something you already published.

We developed this feature to let you keep in contact with other users and to be updated. Now it’s your turn: tell us what you think about it dropping a feedback or writing at support@urli.st Learn more about Urlist taking a tour.

Welcome aboard the new Urlist

Dear friend, we are making a big announce: we are launching a new, improved version of Urlist!

All started in mid 2010 when me and two friends of mine decided to build a simple web application to create and share list of links. The first release was quite limited, but people started to use it anyway.

Soon we realized that our fearless and enthusiastic users—you—used Urlist beyond our initial scope. And we started receiving feedback. Loads of feedback. That’s why we decided to start over building a better and more powerful service.

We have spent the last months developing full time the new version of Urlist, and the development started listing, sorting and analyzing all your feedback, thinking hard on what you really want from our service.

The result is under your eyes, and I’m asking you to take a minute to check out our new features, such as:

a brand new dashboard, where you can manage and search all your public, private and hidden lists (yup, you can change their visibility);
your public profile so other users can take a look of your public lists;
improved collaboration, to let others add links, comment and rate them;
a smart crawler, every time you add a link to a list, Urlist automatically retrieves relevant information about.

But there is much, much more. That’s why I’m asking you to check out all the features taking a tour.

URList: level up!

We are excited to announce that the business incubator EnLabs has selected URList for its seed development program.

In mid 2010 we deployed the first release of URList. Since then we have collected a lot of awesome feedbacks and worked to improve the service with new features, such as the enhanced bookmarklet and the “append mode”.
In the meanwhile we started to pitch our idea to get funding.

Thanks to EnLabs’ mentorship and investment we can finally work full time on URList :)

We have planned to restyle the website and introduce the most requested features built upon your feedbacks — while still keeping the interface light and clean.

We are confident that URList will be the best way to create, share and search your lists of links.

Say hello to the new Bookmarklet!

We at URLi.st love to hear about our users, what they like, what they dislike, and what they want. In the last month we received plenty of feedbacks from all of you, so let’s take a look at your improvements to the URLi.st web application!

The new bookmarklet

We’ve decided to update the bookmarklet thanks to comments like:

«I’d be fully committed to @urlist if the bookmarklet allowed me to pick which list I wanted to save to.» — @jedmund
«Love to have the ability to select which list I am saving to.» — feedback from a user

When you click on the new bookmarklet, it will automatically add the current page to the last URList you’ve selected. If you want to change the list where you want to add the current page, you can pick another list directly within the bookmarklet box by using the new dropdown menu.

Please notice: you don’t need to reinstall the bookmarklet, it is automatically updated.

Bookmarklet for the iPad, copy-n-paste version

Our iPad users cannot drag and drop the bookmarklet to the address bar. A solution is to manually copy and paste the bookmarkled code we provide here.

No more “edit mode”

We’ve decided to remove the edit mode. Now your own lists are always editable, you don’t need to swich from edit off to edit on.

Every time you come back to http://urli.st/, you will see the latest urlist you are editing; to create a new urlist just press the “New urlist” button on the top of the page.

What’s next

Another much requested feature is to edit the titles of the URLs in the list. Don’t worry, we are working on it!

URList is online!

URList is a nifty, handy web application to collect links you want to group.

Are you planning a trip with some friends and looking for a place to spend the night? Make a URList of the most interesting hotels and share the edit link with your fellow travelers: this way they can see your preferences and add theirs.

Do you want to surprise your followers with the ultimate “best of” collection of comic strips? Generate a list and post the share link on Twitter.

But URList isn’t just that. URList and linkography are synonyms.
Have you ever noticed how dull it is to write down a link? Well, now think about writing down all the links in a newspaper or a magazine, the result is… you’re not gonna do it (:
